How can I become a cardiologist?

First, you’ll have to get a bachelor’s degree with a high GPA. Most cardiologists opt for undergraduate degrees in chemistry, biology, or biological sciences. 

You’ll then have to pass the MCAT exam to get into medical school, where you will study subjects like internal medicine, pharmacology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and much more. The last two years of med school are when you’ll complete your residency, participating in rotations to gain hands-on experience in a hospital.

The next step is to complete a 3-year residency in internal medicine and a 3-year cardiology fellowship. You will gain experience with actual patients, learning cardiology skills and health conditions such as coronary artery disease and other heart conditions. 

After those ten years, you will be a certified cardiologist ready to serve patients!
